Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec at the Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk Event
Mr. Vice Minister,
Mr. Inspector General Dache,
Mr. State Secretary,
Mr. Vice President of Lockheed Martin Goge,
Mr. Director General of PZL Mielec,
Mr. Ambassador of Poland to Romania,
Today marks an important moment with the arrival of the first four Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters to Romania. This delivery is one more example of our close partnership in safeguarding the safety and security of Romanian citizens and the broader region.
These versatile and advanced helicopters, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, will enhance Romania’s ability to respond effectively to a wide range of threats and emergencies.
Romania has consistently proven its willingness to extend support to its regional counterparts, providing firefighting assistance and humanitarian aid during times of natural disasters.
With the addition of the Black Hawk helicopters, Romania’s capability of providing such service will reinforce its position as a reliable regional partner.
The acquisition of these helicopters will strengthen Romania’s aerial capacity in managing emergencies, providing emergency medical assistance, conducting reconnaissance operations, firefighting, evacuating critical patients, and enhancing the Romanian Police’s ability to effectively manage road traffic.
Moreover, the shared use of Black Hawk helicopters by Poland and Romania will enable seamless interoperability between these nations, enabling them to swiftly coordinate and collaborate in the face of crises.
This shared capability assumes even greater significance when considering the involvement of Greece, Croatia, and Slovakia, expanding the scope of interoperability to a regional level.
On behalf of the United States Embassy, I extend my warmest congratulations to our Romanian partners for their exceptional cooperation in bringing this project to fruition.
We are immensely proud to have played a part in this endeavor and remain committed to providing unwavering support to this enduring partnership.
Together, we can foster a safer and more secure Europe. The arrival of these Black Hawk helicopters marks a significant milestone in this shared endeavor.
Thank you.
