Dear Romanians,

Heartfelt congratulations on National Day! I am delighted to celebrate this day together with you. It brings me great pleasure, and I am honoured to be the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in this wonderful country, which has already become my second home.

The kindness and hospitality with which I am received here, everywhere, are impressive. Romania has much to offer through its traditions, rich cultural heritage, and beautiful landscapes. The European values you uphold emphasise this positive image.

And, of course, Romania boasts extraordinary footballers. Congratulations on qualifying for the European Football Championship. See you next summer in Germany!

Therefore, you have every reason to be proud of your country. And Germany has every reason to be grateful for having a trustworthy partner like Romania. Economically, our countries collaborate closely. In the context of the current challenging geopolitical situation, we cooperate on the basis of trust within the European Union and NATO. High-level political visits in the past year have once again demonstrated this. I look forward to expanding our close collaboration in the future.
