The start of the holidays in Bucharest – On November 30, the largest Christmas Fair from Romania opens
Bucharest Christmas Fair is equally offering traditional flavours and receipes: Christmas baked cakes, home made cakes and cookies, home made chocolate, home made pies based with a specific appearance („poale- brau”), jams, alongside with specific sweets preferred by children: gingerbread, lollipops, candies and jellies. The dishes which are always on a Christmas table are available for tasting within dedicated food areas, accompanied by hot season drinks. From Romanian delicacies, continuing with international specialties, the fair pledges a savoury culinary travel.
The largest fair in Romania dedicated to the inter holidays, with a tradition of over 15 years, Bucharest Christmas Fair, registered within the international network www.christmasmarkets.com, opens on Thursday, November 30, entrance free. Organised by Bucharest Town Hall, through CREART – Center fpr Creation, Art and Tradition of Bucharest Municipal, in Constitutiei Square, the event awaits the inhabitants of Bucharest as well as tourists for a genuine Christmas experience, until december 26, displaying activities and attractions for the whole family.
The 30 m tall fir tree, covered with cetina, luminous decorations, fine ornated small houses, traditional and international delicacies, story telling activities prepared for all visitors, carol concernts along with the winter feasts traditional music, they all create the magical Christmas atmosphere, right in the heart of the towen.
On the first evening, as of 6 PM, the festive lighting of Bucharest starts.
Handicraft, creation and local food producess fair
The over 130 Christmas small houses shall host craftsmen and craftswomen from all over the country, genuine creatores and local producers, who shall present their art and traditions learned throughout generations. The visitors shall find inspiratione every day for their seasons gifts and purchases, starting with hand made painted globes, cermic little bells, braided little crowns and other specific decorations and ornaments, continuing with wood icons and objects, traditional blouses and costumes, toys, accessories, jewels, adornments and natural beauty products. Each product is hand made and each tells a story.
Entertainment options
In order to cater to all ages, the 16th edition of Bucharest Christmas Fair, shall have two areas dedicated to winter feast specific music. In the traiditional area, there will be played Romanian carols and traditional music, chores and children chores, recitals performed by instrument players, as well as groups of national minorities and communities, with the second area to offer enterteinment performed by DJ mixing on the international rythms of the best known wingter holiday songs. The official opening – November 30, Romania National Day – December 1, Saint Nicholas, Advent and the two Cgristmas days, as well as weekends, shall be cleebrated with concerts performed by famous bands, artists, popular bands, as well as via special activities, organsied together with the Bucharest Christmas Fair partners.
Throughout the event, the accompanying music is brodcast by Magic FM, the most popular winter season radio channel, which sends out the Christmas specific emtotion.
The weekend days are thought for magic and joy, with a theater plays selection designed for the little ones, performed on the event stage, as of 12.00. From classical stories, to adventures and beloved characters, the eprformances shall take the children into charmed and surprise full worlds.
Children entertainment
Already a tradition which the little ones acknowledge and love, the House of Santa Claus reveals in detail the entire story of the international symbol of this feast. With an area of over 100 square meters, hand made decorated and painted, to accurately describe the magical world of Santa, it expects the children all through the event for them to express in words, designs and letters their most sincere wishes, with the elfs being around. During the first weeks, the children shall be presented with creation workshops, so that they can design their own decorations and ornaments. Starting with Friday, 15 December, Santa Claus arrives here in person to meet with them every day, to listen to them and to share with them the story of Christmas miracles. On the Advent afternoon, the Santa shall take his sledge and shall depart to send gifts, under the Christmas tree, to children worldwide.
The Carousel from Constitutiei Square shall also turn into an unforgetable attractuin, bringing joy and smiles. The winter characters, the sount of joyful melodies and the smooth movement shall transport the little ones into a fairy universe.
Attractions for the whole family
The panoramic wheel shall enable visitors to have a unique perspective on the event and on the city, as they shall be able to contemplate, from up in the height, the feast lights, the fine decorated houses and the spectacular Christmas Tree, with golden littles stars, garlands and thousand globes.
. Right in the heart of the Christmas Fair, there is the thematic train which can offer a captivating view, during a fantastic travel.
Mascots and entertainers walking on high wooden legs, dressed in fantastic clothes, shall interact with people and shall participate in photos with the public, bringing feast joy to all.

Bucharest Christmas fair is daily open, from Monday to Friday, during 12.00 to 5 PM, and from 10.00 AM to 10.00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. On Romania’s National Day – December 1, the visitors are expected starting with 10, and during the Christmas days, the opening hours are as follows: on December 25, starting at 12.00 and on December 26, staerting at 10.00
