Since the privatization of Distrigaz Sud by Gaz de France – which later merged with SUEZ to become GDF SUEZ and rebranded afterwords as ENGIE- the company has become a top company in the Romanian economy, a key player in the energy sector, an important actor of the energy transition, a trusted partner to its customers and suppliers, a key employer, and an active contributor to community life. After the acquisition of the majority shareholding in Distrigaz Sud by Gaz de France in 2005, the company has consistently evolved and undergone major transformations, positioning it today as one of the most important energy players in Romania. The company’s development has been driven both organically – through the continuous expansion of its activities, from natural gas distribution and supply to electricity generation and supply, as well as complete energy value chain and green products – and through acquisitions.
