Nova Power & Gas, part of the E-INFRA Group, has announced the commissioning and start of commercial operations of the largest battery energy storage system (BESS) in Romania. The facility, located in Florești, Cluj County, has an installed power of 200 MW and a storage capacity of 400 MWh.
At the same time, the company announced the start of construction works on a 160 MW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in Câmpia Turzii, a project scheduled to become operational by the end of 2026.
The total value of the two investments exceeds EUR 350 million.
Speaking at the inauguration event, Romania’s Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated:
“Energy storage is the infrastructure of the future and, at this moment, one of the most effective solutions to reduce imbalances in the system, better integrate energy produced by prosumers, and, most importantly, keep costs under control for Romanian consumers.
