Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery, on Monday. as a tribute to the military heroes buried there.
The Prime Minister was accompanied to the ceremony by the Minister of Defense, Angel Tilvar, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, and by the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea.
The prime minister was welcomed by General Trevor J. Bredenkamp, the representative of the Washington Military District. The complex ceremonial in which the prime minister participated included 19 cannon volleys and the honoring of the flag.
Prime Minister Ciolacu made a symbolic gift from the Romanian state at the cemetery museum. Romania is among the four countries that awarded the Military Virtue Medal to the Cemetery, along with Great Britain, France and Canada.
Afterwards, the Romanian prime minister will meet, at the Pentagon, with the American Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, and the head of American diplomacy, Antony Blinken. At the end of the day, he will also meet with Jennifer Granholm, US Secretary of Energy.
Marcel Ciolacu is on an official visit to Washington D.C. and in New York until Wednesday, together with a government delegation that includes the Minister of Defense, Angel Tilvar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luminita Odobescu, and the Minister of Economy, Radu Oprea.
