Romania Officially Submits Dacian Cioloș’s Candidacy for Secretary-General of La Francophonie

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania transmitted on 15 April 2026, through diplomatic channels, the letter of the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, addressed to the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, in his capacity as the current Chair of the Francophonie Summit. Through this document, Romania officially submits the candidacy of Dacian Cioloș, former Prime Minister of Romania and former European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, for the position of Secretary General of la Francophonie for the 2027-2030 mandate.

Nine O’Clock has received at its editorial office this information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania regarding the official submission of Romania’s candidacy for the position of Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie for the 2027–2030 mandate.
