High-Level OECD Meeting on Economic Assessment for Romania – 2024 Edition

Mihnea-Claudiu Drumea, State Secretary at the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG), engaged in a crucial meeting today at Victoria Palace with the OECD delegation led by Luiz de Mello, Director of the Country Studies Division within the Department of Economics, accompanied by Philip Hemmings, Chief Economist in the Department of Economics, Ivana Capozza, Senior Policy Analyst, Environment Directorate, and Ben Conigrave, Economist, OECD Department of Economics.
This meeting is part of the ongoing activities in Bucharest this week, integral to the high-level mission regarding the Economic Assessment Study for Romania – 2024 Edition. This study holds paramount significance for Romania’s OECD accession process, aiming to depict the current economic landscape of Romania upon completion. The final recommendations arising from this document will guide public institutions and authorities in their direct responsibilities.
Mihnea Claudiu Drumea reiterated the firm commitment of SGG to Romania’s OECD accession process and active involvement in supporting all preparatory activities for the accession dossier.
The coordination of the study is led by the National Commission for Strategy and Forecasting, under the authority of SGG. The OECD’s comprehensive analysis involves collaboration with various ministries, institutions, and central authorities.
Additional participants in the in-depth discussions included Alina Jalea, State Counselor in the Office of the Prime Minister of Romania, State Counselor for Climate Change and Energy Transition, Luca Niculescu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Coordinator for Romania’s OECD Accession, Cristian-Nicolae Stănică, President of the National Commission for Strategy and Forecasting, and members of the coordination team for Romania’s OECD accession process from MAE and SGG, along with experts in SGG’s competency domain.
