Romanian students learn to recycle small electronic waste through national program
Schools in Bucharest, Galați, Prahova, Iași and Mureș report the strongest results
Almost 15% of the electrical waste generated annually in Romania consists of small devices such as mobile phones, battery-powered toys, electric toothbrushes, remote controls, cables, headphones and keyboards. These items are often treated as ordinary waste because many people do not recognize them as electrical equipment.
To address this issue, Environ Association runs the national environmental education program “Baterel – The Recycling Hero”, now in its 15th edition. More than 2,400 public and private schools across Romania have participated so far, collecting over 1,000 tonnes of electrical waste.
