Russian Ambassador Summoned to Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The following information is based on a press release received by the editorial office of Nine O’Clock from Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

By order of Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Țoiu, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Bucharest was summoned to the headquarters of Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, 27 July 2026.

The summons came as a firm response to the repeated violations of Romania’s airspace between 24 and 26 July 2026, during which the Romanian Armed Forces shot down three drones that had entered the country’s territory without authorization.

During the meeting, the Russian diplomat was presented with fragments of a drone destroyed on Romanian territory. According to investigations conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office, the components have been officially confirmed to be of Russian origin.
