Smithfield Romania Celebrates A Decade of Commitment to Food Education
Once again, this year, Smithfield Romania volunteers organized a new food education workshop for the benefit of forty-three 3rd to 4th years students of Parta Elementary School. The students explored the fundamental rules of a healthy diet, the role of a balanced diet in the harmonious development of children and adults and how to avoid food waste. To make it easier for them to learn, the course was followed by a practical application.
For the third consecutive year, the program organized by Smithfield Romania was supported by Carrefour, as part of the partnership “Food Transition Pact” initiated by the French retailer. Under this partnership, all beneficiary students received gift packs with snacks suitable for a balanced diet.
“For ten years, we’ve been delivering on our commitment to help educate students for healthier communities! We celebrate this anniversary with gratitude for all the communities that have welcomed our initiative!” said Cristina Bodea, Sustainability Director, Smithfield Romania.
“For the third year in a row, we are supporting the project of our partner, Smithfield Romania, as part of the Food Transition Pact. This collaboration reflects our commitment to promoting healthy and sustainable food. It is a concrete example of how we work with our partners to turn these shared commitments into actions that bring real benefits to the community. We continue to contribute to building a healthier community through food, alongside like-minded partners.” added Alina Gamauf, Member of the Executive Committee Carrefour Romania.
As a leader in the food industry and sustainable pork production, Smithfield Romania believes that social responsibility is central to our mission to provide “Good Food. Responsibly”. We are dedicated to the development of the communities where we operate, and through over thirteen social responsibility programs, we are committed to making a positive difference in the world around us.
Our partnership with Carrefour Romania in the “Food Transition Pact” underlines our shared commitment to encourage the adoption of a balanced diet, thus contributing to a healthier future for all members of society.
Over the past ten years, as part of its social responsibility programs, Smithfield Romania has invested resources and encouraged students in the communities where it operates to adopt healthy eating habits and a balanced lifestyle. Smithfield Romania is a constant promoter of healthy eating, organizing workshops in physical format as well as online (during the pandemic), bringing in special guests and volunteers to pass on valuable information.
