International Women’s Day arrives each year like a metronome—steady, insistent, impossible to ignore. It keeps time not for celebrations alone, but for conscience. March 8 is the day we take the measure of what half the world has accomplished and what the whole world still owes: not a bouquet of platitudes, but the stubborn, structural work of dignity. The holiday’s origin story—streets and shop floors, ballots and bread lines—reminds us that progress is not a keepsake; it is a practice. And practice, as any musician or jurist knows, is repetition with intention. You return to the same passage—an argument, a statute, a promise—until it finally sounds like justice.
